Ahmednagar Tourism | Places to Visit in Ahmednagar

I am amazing Ahmednagar, a small but a historically important city in Ahmednagar district, located in the western state of India- Maharashtra. I received my name from Ahmad Nizam Shah, who discovered me in 1490 A.D. on the site of an ancient city Bhingar. I, Ahmednagar city, have earned the prestige of housing 2nd largest display of military tanks in the world and the largest in Asia. I continue to stand tall and feel proud to reveal that Ahmednagar history has witnessed the rise of Mughal dynasties, the golden period of Nizam Shahi Dynasty, glorious Malik Ambar Era, and the rise of brave-hearted Maratha kingdom. I am the birthplace of Sugar Co-operative Movement.

Rich Culture of Ahmednagar

Marathi is the official state language and my inhabitants use it to converse and write, other than Hindi and English. People residing in my nurturing shelter celebrate a variety of colorful festivals. Ganesh Chaturthi is the main festival my people enjoy. My people feast on Maharashtrian cuisine such as Chapati, Bhakri, Puran Puli, Sheera, Gajar ka Halwa and Bhaji. Non-vegetarian food is equally popular and so is the street food such as golgappas, aloo chat and sev puri. I have several, big and small, shopping malls just like in any major city.
