Located in Pune, near Lonavala, Maharashtra, India; Bhaja caves are considered as one of the beautiful caves and are one of beautiful examples of the old Buddhist caves. These are the wonderful set of 22 rock cut caves and they are believed to be from Hinayana phase of Buddhism and hence find their roots back in 2nd century BC.
This is a worth visiting place even though these nicely carved caves are a climb of 150-200 large steps from the nearest Bhaja Village. There are Buddhist stupas available as well. The visitors mostly love Bhaja caves since it is our one of the ancient historical monuments. These caves can be visited any time in the year; however monsoon season is the best time to visit this place since the greenery view is beautiful.

How to Reach Bhaja Caves By Road:
Bhaja caves are located near to Karla caves. There are local buses that run from Lonavala to Karla caves which have a distance of 12 kms in between them. Bhaja caves are located at around 10 kms from the Karla caves. You may prefer walking or may catch an auto from Karla to Bhaja. Khandala is also nearer to Bhaja caves at around 14 kms.
How to Reach Bhaja Caves By train:
Malavli is the nearest railway station for local trains. One may come down to Pune and head towards Lonavala since Pune is well connected to the major cities in India and catch a train from Lonavala to Malavli. Bhaja caves are at around 3 kms from the Malavli station. One may get a direct train from Mumbai to Lonavala as well.
