I, Lonavala Khandala, is a hill station in the Western Ghats of the western Indian state of Maharashtra. I’m at a distance of just 80 km from Mumbai City and 65 KM from Pune. I am located at the end of the Bhor Ghat.
I emerged during the Yadava dynasty in ancient India. Soon, the Mughals realized my strategic importance and made me a prominent spot on their map. Later, during the British Raj, Lord Elphinstone, governor of Bombay presidency, declared me as a famous hill station.
I, the twin destinations of Khandala and Lonavala stretch out 5 km apart, on the western slopes of the Sahyadri hills, across the Mumbai-Pune highway at a height of 625 km. I am merely 3 hours journey by road from Mumbai. I am known to be the jewel of Sahyadri Mountains. A majority of people visit me because of my beautiful waterfall and thick foliage, with serene surroundings.
