Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary: A Haven for Birds, Mammals and water fishes
I, Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary am situated between Bhandara district and Gondia district of Mahrashtra. There is important wildlife conservation going in here. I am the place where you come if you want to see different species of birds, reptiles, mammals and wild animals like bison, tiger, barking deers, sambar, chital, wild boar, sloth bear and wild dog. These animals are wonderful and are a joy to behold.
I am considered as one of the prime and famous wildlife Sanctuaries in Maharashtra. Apart from wild animals, there are many insects, ant species and several species of butterflies as well in Nagzira wildlife sanctuary forest. I am visited by nearly 35000 tourists every year.
How I have been named Nagzira? There is lord Shiva and Nag temple (Snake) in the middle of my vicinity. There is also a village inside forest called ‘Nangthana’. I got my name from the temple and ‘zira’ (zara) in marathi means a perennial source of water, Nagzira.
