The Secluded Beauty of Virgin Kihim Beach
With the Khanderi and Underi Forts looming large over the horizon, I am Kihim Beach – a picturesque stretch of sandy beach intermittent by rocks and boulders on the Konkan coast in India. At Kihim beach I offer you some of the most enchanted visual of the setting sun on the Arabian Sea and naturally I am one of the most popular among all the beaches around the Alibaug beach.
I am only at a distance of 12km from Alibaug bus depot and I am also the closest beach from Mandwa. It is extremely convenient for tourists to reach Kihim Beach Alibaug availing the ferry service to Mandwa from the Gateway of India, Mumbai. It is the most convenient way of reaching me and also the most economical one. Mumbai is only at a distance of 100 km from me and the Mumbai airport is also the nearest airport.
Once you are in Kihim beach Alibaug, I will offer you a virgin beach with dark sands. But I am not a very good place for taking a dip in the sea for the sea is not only pretty rough here but the beach is also not a flat making it a pretty dangerous combination. Apart from the Kihim beach, the Kankeshwar Temple is one of the most important attraction of me.
Hundreds and thousands of devotees visit me during the month of Shravana when a Shivlinga mysteriously appears on the beach. The Shivlinga is known as Swyambhu and also vanishes by itself only reappear again the next year. But that is not a very good time for tourists and you will find me most adorable during the winter months or early summer.
