The Pataleshwar caves are located in Pune, Maharashtra, India and these are considered as the beautiful rock-cut caves finding their roots back in the 8th century. These beautiful caves were carved in the period of Rashtrakuta. Visitors find this place as a calm and peaceful place in the heart of city Pune on the Jungli Maharaj Road.
Even though the name of the place is Pataleshwar “Caves”, it contains more of the temple. There is a small gate at the entrance of the Pataleshwar Caves temple and there is also a huge Banyan tree. The ASI maintains this place and it is really a wonderful place in the crowded city like Pune. After going inside there is a circular structure that houses Nandi.

How to Reach Pataleshwar Caves by Road:
Since this place is located in the heart of Pune city, one has to reach to Pune first. There are many State run buses available that run between Pune and other major cities in the Mahrashtra as well out of the Mahrashtra. Once one reaches to Pune, there are many local buses available from the main stations like Swargate or Pune Station etc that take visitors to Jungli Maharaj Road where the Pataleshwar Caves are located or one may also opt for an auto.
How to Reach Pataleshwar from Pune Railway Station: From Pune railway station use Wellesley Road to reach Pataleshwar Caves. Head towards La Meridien Pune – RTO Office Pune – cross the Sangam Briedge – Sancheti Hospital – Engineer College Ground – Pataleshwar Mandir.
How to Reach Pataleshwar from Swargate, Pune: From Swargate travel through Dinkarrav Javalkar Road till Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum. Then drive forward on Bajirao Road. Head towards AB Chowk – Maharshi Annasaheb Patwardhan Chowk – Hanuman Mandir. Cross the briedge from Dr. Hedgewar Chowk. Drive further and take a left turn on JM Road to reach Pataleshwar Caves.
How to Reach Pataleshwar Caves from Mumbai: From Mumbai to Pataleshwar head towards Panvel and take Mumbai Pune Expressway to reach Pune. From Pune use above rout to reach Pataleshwar Temple.

Pune is well connected to the major cities in the Mahrashtra as well as out of the Mahrashtra by train as well. As soon as one gets down to the Pune Railway Station he or she may catch local buses or autos for the Jungli Maharaj Road i.e towards Pataleshwar Caves.
