Places to Visit in Aurangabad Caves

Located at Aurangabad, in the Maharashtra state, India; the Aurangabad caves are considered as one of the popular caves in the Maharashtra. These are the 12 rock-cut Buddhist caves and are situated near to the famous Bibi ka Maqbara at around 2 kms. These caves are basically divided into three separate groups depending upon the location.




There are many places to see at or near to Aurangabad Caves:

Ajanta Caves:

Ajanta Caves are located at 107 kms from Aurangabad and considered as one of the popular monuments in the world. Ajanta Caves are the prime attraction not only for the Indian tourists but also for the foreigner tourists.

Ellora Caves:

Situated at around 30 kms from Aurangabad, Ellora caves are also the famous caves in the Maharashtra. These are total 34 caves and contain beautiful rock-cut temples. The ideal time to visit Ellora caves is from October to February and from June to September.

Devgiri Fort:

Devgiri Fort is situated in the village of Daulat. This is a very huge and massive fort that attracts visitors. This fort was built for the best defense to the rulers. This Devgiri fort has always been very tough for the people to win.

Grishneshwar Temple:

Grishneshwar temple is located at around 30 kms from the Aurangabad. It is the oldest jyotirlinga and considered as one of the prime, biggest and best Hindu temples.

Bibi Ka Maqbara:

Bibi ka Maqbara is situated at around 5 kms from Aurangabad and this was built by Aurangazeb’s son, Prince Azam. He built this monument in the memory of Begum Rabia Durani ; his mother. Bibi ka Maqbara is also called as replica of Tajmahal by the visitors.

Pitalkhora Caves:

Pitalkhora caves are located near to Aurangabad, in the Kannad. These caves are not much popular but these caves possess very beautiful rock-cut architecture. There are total 14 buddhist caves and they have their roots back in the 2nd century BC.

Bani Begum Bagh:

Bani Begum Bagh is a beautiful garden that was created by the grandson of Aurangzeb in the memory of his wife, Bani Begum. This garden is located at 24 kms from Aurangabad and this is a very calm and peaceful place.

Khuldabad:

Khuldabad is a holy shrine for muslims. The place possesses wonderful climate and hence this place is one of the attractions to the visitors. The place is surrounded by mountains. This place possesses many ancient buildings built by Aurangzeb.
