Sagareshwar Wildlife Sanctuary is located at the meeting point of three Tehsils of Sangli district i.e Kadegaon, Walva and Palus and the sanctuary is manmade. The total area of the Sanctuary is 10.87 Sq.km and it is located at a distance of 47 km from the city. The best time to visit the Sanctuary is from August to February.
The attractions in the sanctuary are Blackbucks, Porcupins, Chital, Muntjac, Sambar Deer etc and this sanctuary is home for a number of floras and faunas. Since it is an artificial sanctuary; plants like Kashid, Neem, Tamarind, Gulmohar, Nilgiri, Chilar, Khair, Bahava, Dhavada etc are available. The Sagareshwar Wildlife Sanctuary has a cultural, religious and archaeological significance as well.

How to Reach Sagareshwar Wildlife Sanctuary by Road:
The nearest bus stations from Sagareshwar Wildlife Sanctuary are Sangli (30 kms), Miraj (34kms), Kirloskarvadi (14 kms), Palus (15 kms), Takari (2 kms). You may take MSRTC buses from Sangli or Miraj and may alight at Takari. Sagareshwar Sanctuary is at a distance of 15 kms from Palus bus station. The Sanctuary is at a walk able distance from Takari or you may take auto rickshaw as well.
How to Reach Sagareshwar Wildlife Sanctuary by Train:
The nearest railway stations from the Sagareshwar Wildlife Sanctuary are Sangli (30 kms), Miraj Rail Junction (34 kms), Kirloskarwadi (15 kms) and Takari (2 kms). Sangli as well as Miraj are well connected to all the other major cities in Maharashtra, by rail. You may take MSRTC buses or auto rickshaws or may take private cars from Sangli or Miraj.
