Situated amidst fresh lotus lakes, thick ancient forest, and the long stretch of virgin beach at Kelva, also popularly known as Kelva Beach is a popular weak end destination for tourists from Mumbai and also from other places in the country.

There are also a number of good hotels and resorts at Kelva Beach which offer good accommodation and food against a very wide price range and can be a very good place for a couple of day’s holiday.

Kelva Beach is around about 80 km away from Mumbai City, once can easily get to this beach either by road or by train, the nearest train stations being around 5 km away from the Kelwa beach. It takes around 25 minutes to drive down from Palghar.

How to Reach Kelva Beach by Road

Kelva Beach is situated only at a distance of 80km from Mumbai and can be easily reached either by taking the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway No. 8 to Vasai – Safale Road or Manor – Palghar road to Manor via Borivali – Dahisar.

The beach is close to the Sitla Devi temple which is also a popular tourist attraction here. Kelva beach is well connected by road with different parts of Maharashtra and is at a distance of 105km from Thane, 140km from Mumbai City, 190km from Surat and 175km from Nashik.

How to Reach Kelva Beach from Mumbai by Road:

To travel from Mumbai to Kelva beach use Western Express Highway till Mira Bhayandar or use Ghodbunder Road till Mira Bhayandar. Cross the Vasai Creek from Retibandar and head towards Maljipada – Kolhi – Sativali – Pelhar and cross the Tanasa River. Bhalivali – Dhekali – Varai and use the Saphale Road till Anand Nagar. Use Agarwadi Road to reach Kelva Beach via Bari Wada.

From Borivali to Kelva Beach travel towards Mira Bhayandar and use the above route to reach Kelva Beach.

How to Reach Kelva Beach from Palghar by Road:

To travel from Palghar to Kelva beach use Mahim – Palghar road and head towards Chedoba Temple and then use Shitla Devi Road to reach Kelva Beach.

How to Reach Kelva Beach by Train

Kelve Road Station

Kelva beach is situated on the Western Railway line and also has a small railway station called Kelwe Road. But only a few trains stop here. From Kelve Road Station to Kelva beach distance is about 8 KM and can be reached by autos.

The nearest main station is Palghar. Tourists can easily reach Palghar or Kelwe Road by a number of periodic shuttle trains and also express trains from both Mumbai Central and Virar.

Kelva Beach is only at a distance of 12km from Palghar and large size auto rickshaws are available on sharing basis from both Palghar and Kelve road station to reach the Kelva beach against minimum prices. Tourists can also hire their own rickshaws if preferred.

How to Reach Kelva Beach by Air

Chatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai is the nearest international airport and after reaching Mumbai by air from anywhere in India and abroad tourists can travel either by road or by train to reach Kelva Beach according to their personal choice and preference.
