The Mahakali Caves; also known as Kondivit Caves; are located at the western line “Andheri” in the city of Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. These caves were situated in between the Borivali national park and Aarey Milk Colony; earlier. Mahakali caves are total 19 rock-cut monuments that were built between the 1st century and 6th century. There are idols of Lord Buddha that have been carved on the rocks. Out of the 19 caves, the main cave contains the figures of Buddhist and stupas. Mahakali caves are considered to be one of the oldest and pleasant places. This place is very quiet, calm and peaceful.

How to Reach Mahakali Caves By Road:

You can get local transport buses to reach to Mahakali caves. There are a number of buses that run to the Mahakali caves from various nearby bus stops like Kondivte Caves / Mahakali Caves Bus Station, Saibaba Mandir Marol Bus Station, Model Town (Majas) Bus Station, Takshila Bus Station, Holy Spirit Hospital Bus Station etc. It may take around 20-30 mins for you to reach Mahakali Caves from the Andheri Railway Station; by bus.

How to Reach Mahakali Caves By Train:

Andheri railway station and Jogeshwari Railway Station are the two nearby and major railway stations to reach to the Mahakali caves. If you are somewhere in the Mumbai, then you may catch a local train to get down at Andheri or Jogeshwari. There are many options to reach Mahakali Caves from Andheri Station. Once you reach Andheri or Jogeshwari station, you can opt for local bus for Mahakali caves or hire taxi or auto to reach Mahakali Caves.

How to Reach Mahakali Caves By Air:

The nearest airport is the Chatrapati Shivaji Domestic Airport, Mumbai. You may fly to Mumbai if you are coming from out of the city. Since Mumbai is a major city in the India, it is well connected to the other major cities by air. The domestic airport of the Mumbai is located at Vile-Parle.
