Daulatabad or Devgiri Fort is a historical fort located in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. It was the capital of the Yadava dynasty during the 9th century t0 14th century CE. Aurangabad is a historical city and there are many ancient temples and sites to see.

Bibi ka Maqbara

Bibi ka Maqbara is situated around 16km from the Daulatabad fort. It is a tomb built by Mughal emperor Aurangzeb in 1660 in the memory of his wife Dilras Banu Begum. It bears a striking resemblance to the Taj Mahal which was built by Aurangzeb’s father Shahjahan.

Bibi ka Maqbara is also called the Dakkhani Taj. Tourists from all over India and also from foreign countries come to visit this mausoleum.

Ajanta Caves

Located around 110 km from the Devgiri Fort, Ajanta Caves is must visit place. Ajanta Caves is a group of around 30 Buddhist caves carved date back to the 2nd century. Its a UNESCO world heritage site. It is said that ancient Buddhist monks used to stay in these caves and use it for worship purposes.

Ellora Caves are located around 15 km from Daulatabad Fort. This is too a UNESCO heritage place. There are many Buddhist caves to explore. Do not miss the Kailasha temple carved out of the rocks.

Grishneshwar Temple

Grishneshwar Temple is located near Ellora Caves and around 14 km from the Daulatabad fort. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and it is a part of 12 Jyotirlinga. As it is the last or 12th Jyotirlinga, devotees from all over the country visit this temple throughout the year.
