Raigad Fort (Hill Fort) is situated in the Mahad village in the Raigad district of Maharashtra in India. The Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj built this fort and made it his capital in 1674 upon being crowned as the king of Maratha kingdom. This 820 meters high fort is built at an attitude of 2700 ft. above sea level and is located in the Sahyadri mountain range. 1737 steps lead to the Raigad fort, today people reach this fort via the Raigad Ropeway – an aerial tramway in just 10 minutes.

The busses connecting important cities terminate at one of the three important bus stands in Raigad. These are Alibaug bus stand, Panvel State transport bus depot, and Mangaon State Transport Stand.
