Located in the Raigad district of Maharashtra, I am Shrivardhan Beach, I am a municipal council developed into a seaside beach resort. The town of Shrivardhan is actually a peninsula and that is why I have a number of beaches all around. People from all over the state and also from other states of the country come to visit me all around the year.
As a place of historical importance you will first find my name in Mahabharata, as I was visited by Arjuna during his pilgrimage. During the 16th and the 17th century, Shrivardhan Beach was a pretty important port under the Kingdoms of Ahmadnagar and Bijapur. I am also the birth place of the first Pesva, Balaji Visvanath and being one of the oldest city in the state of Maharashtra I am also known as the city of Pesvas.
Located in the Raigad on the Konkan coast, I have a population of around 15,000 and have a literacy rate of 74% that is much higher than the national average. Along with Harihareshwar a newly developed city at a distance of 18 km only I form the twin cities of Shrivardhan a beach city that is growing in rapid popularity among tourists.
