Your approach to take your own vehicle is good.

You can start from Virar to Tarkarli beach. It would be around 550 km. Then visit following points
      Sindhudurg Fort
      Ganpatipule
      Guhagar Beach
Harihareshwar Temple and Shrivardhan Beach are closed by
      Diveagar
      Murud Janjira
      Nagaon, Alibaug, Kashid, Kihim beach
      Karnala bird sanctuary (Panvel)
      and back to Virar

There are many locals providing stays and food at reasonable cost. You can approach them or try some hotels on your way.

      Hope this helps.

      Happy Travelling 🙂
